Mountain Monkeys Adventure Day Camp
For Ages 7 - 9
Not scheduled in 2018
rock climbing · challenge course · nature · hiking

We have had such success with young climbers in family programs that we decided to create a version of our adventure day camp for ages 6 - 8. Similar to our Young Explorer Adventure Day Camps, but tailored with the younger camper in mind.

All camps encourage self-discovery, responsibility, fitness and fun. In's all about adventure! Parents can expect small group fun & adventure in the outdoors, from safe, qualified leaders.

We have designed each session to be different so a participant could do both sessions with minimal overlap.

Day 1: Get to know you games and team building initiatives set the stage for moving onto rock climbing. Learn to make your own harness and tie strong, secure knots. End the day with a quick dip in a lake or ocean.

Day 2: Action and adventure when you build your own ropes course in the forest, follow your map and compass to explore a nearby cave or beaver pond..

Day 3: Hike the Beehive Ladder Trail to the summit and then use your new navigation skills to get back to the road. Take a swim at Sand Beach amid exploring life in tidepools.Learn to get a campfire going with flint and steel and see how fast you can boil a cup of water. Rappel at Otter Cliff.

We try to proceed with planned activities for the day unless there is a danger of lightning or a major storm. Should weather preclude continuing with the day's activities we often visit the climbing wall and swimming pool at the local YMCA.

Day campers may be dropped off at 8:00 am and picked up at 5:00 pm at Alpenglow Adventure Sports, 92 Main St., in Orono.

Wild Monkey's should bring easy to eat lunches and drinks. Please try to package food and drinks in non-breakable containers.
